Update, so I did a piffling more than exploring and went to the Pit Dominate web site, and so when y'all offset one these models it volition display what appears to be the number 5 merely information technology is actually the alphabetic character S. I cant find and temperature info about this setting but I would assume information technology'due south around 180-190 since the everyman temp setting is 200. Thanks to all of those that take replied.

Did you figure out more than almost how to adjust the p settings like I keep reading about? I bought my 850 pro series a month ago and am still trying to figure out how to utilise fume way as I thought the S was a v.

I simply read that the "South" setting is a temp range between 180-210

From my experience, this is correct. To add together to this, P4 (should exist around 180* F) is the default and should give you plenty of fume. Weather is a big gene, for example, I had to run on P2 when it was 30* F here to maintain a sleeping accommodation temp of 180* F (for jerky.) Make certain when changing it you let it level off for 20 minutes or and then earlier changing information technology again. The P setting is a timing setting, non temp, it volition feed for X seconds then pause for Y seconds, at that place is a chart in the manual that tells you what X and Y are for each P setting. Yous tin can also but change the P setting when on the "Smoke (Due south) setting.

I take not been able to find the "p" button on the digital controller. When I plow information technology on, it usually flashes the number 5 until I set the temp. From there the everyman temp setting is 200. I've tried smoking at 225 but at that place is very petty fume. I did a pork butt, that wasn't terrible only not my best piece of work either. Give thanks you for the reply Blackoval95

I'm not 100% but don't you just button it and it changes?

It doesn't have a "p" setting button similar some models. 200 is the lowest temp it volition go merely even at that there is very petty fume. It will hold at any temp it attack simply very little smoke for some reason. 🤷♂️

Merely ran down that rabbit hole myself. From what I tin tell, and someone correct me if I am wrong, the 850 Pro Series uses the new PID controller and does not use a timed release, then this no "p" setting. The PID controller initiates the auger based on temperature and sensor algorithms, not fixed fourth dimension intervals like the older model controllers.

Thank you lot live_lurkin, I volition effort it on 200, that'due south the lowest temp setting that information technology seems to take and try that. I have tried a pork butt at 225 and there is very piffling smoke even at 225. I may hay to apply one of those fiddling log deals that I can put the pellets in and endeavor that.
